I’m on a YA paranormal kick. At the moment, it’s the third book in The Mortal Instruments, a series by Cassandra Clare. Again, I’m surprised by just how much description is actually in fast-paced paranormals.
Setting details are something I often forget to add once I get into a chapter’s first draft so now I’ve modified my scene outlines to include details for setting right after my notes about the mood I want.
We’re having strange winter weather here. Bushes began to flower in late January while the winter rye in the fields is still shooting up. I enjoyed 70 degree weather in January but am very worried about what this long warm spell will do to the trees and other plants. Still, the warmer weather makes for wonderful walks on the wildlife refuge nearby.
